The school song, like school motto and school badge, is spiritual totem of school, as well as focus of school history and culture. In 1925, Liu Dabai, a famous contemporary folk poet, wrote lyrics and Feng Jikai composed music, creating "Fudan University School Song", an old Fudan University school song. The name of Fudan University comes from word "Qing Yongge", which reads: "Qingyun is rotten and unadorned. The sun and moon are shining, and Dan Fudan is here.” “Qingyun” means basically renunciation of Yao and Shun. The song was once used as national anthem during Beiyang warlord era to praise the republican system.

The Nankai school song was created on eve of May 4th Movement and was personally approved by director Zhang Bolin. Southeastern University's school song was composed on eve of 100th anniversary of founding of school and written for school holiday. This song lasted over nine months and was finalized after dozens of revisions, in which dozens of poetry experts, leaders of entire school, teachers and students participated and gave many valuable opinions. The school song of Southeastern University is a lyric written to tune of "Fairy Linjiang". "Linjiang Xian" has many other styles (13 in total), and sixth style is used here (according to "Ci Lv"). Use two six-digit sentences at beginning and two five-digit sentences at end of top and bottom, number of words is same and levels are opposite, which easily forms a confrontation. A whole word consists of only 58 characters and is also easy to remember.
