7. Read Shan Hai Jing (Part 1)

The grass and trees of Mengxia are long, and trees around house are sparse.

All birds are grateful for support, and I also love my hut.

I plowed and planted, and still read books from time to time.

The poor alleys are divided by deep potholes, and they are right back to old man's car.

I enjoy drinking spring wine and picking vegetables from my garden.

A light rain is coming from east, and with it a good wind.

After Tao Yuanming lived in seclusion, he entertained himself with Qin and books when he wasn't farming. During his seclusion, Tao Yuanming read myths and stories such as "Classic of Mountains and Seas" and "Biography of Mu Tianzi", so he wrote 13 poems, first of which is a general summary. Much of content of poem is about my life as a farmer and reader after a life of seclusion, which is beautiful in everyday life. In end, I gave my own opinion: "If you look down on universe, what will you do if you are not happy?" Life is short but I can travel world and instantly look at universe, what a joy it is. In terms of writing, this poem is purely based on nature, with a lot of accumulation, a deep heart, and a superficial appearance that is perfect.

It is a pity that swordsmanship is poor, so miraculous feats cannot be achieved.

"Ode to Jingke" is a famous epic poem by Tao Yuanming. The whole story describes story of King Qin's assassination of Jing Ke, poem exaggerates scene of that time, creating a tense and uplifting atmosphere that fills people with righteous indignation and enthusiasm. In end, "I cherish it and admire it again, and knot is strong so that whole capital can be lifted." .

Two years later, Tao Yuanming moved to Nankun in Xiongyan Nanli and soon wrote two poems "Moving". The poem mainly praises simple and unsophisticated people of Nankun, and Tao Yuanming was very happy to work with them and talk about past and present together.

At foot of Nanshan Mountain, grass is full of bean sprouts, but there are few bean sprouts.

Morning Sin sorts out waste and dirt and returns with a moon lotus.

The road is narrow, and grass and trees are long, and evening dew touches my clothes.

It's not a pity that clothes are dirty, but wishes are not violated.

This poem mainly writes about work scene after I lived in seclusion. I see an interest in ordinary, showing us a picture of returning to agriculture on a moonlit night, full of my own happiness and pride in being a hermit. The simple language "plant beans at foot of South Mountain" and beautiful phrase "bring back moon and lotus"; whole poem is soft and perfect under mutual complementation of simple and beautiful, real and virtual scenes.
