The project can provide a source of water for ecological restoration of Loess Plateau and accelerate restoration of vegetation of Loess Plateau. At same time, it provides water sources for provinces along Yellow River. Another very important role is to help increase flow of Yellow River and provide conditions for navigation on Yellow River. As soon as Yellow River is opened to shipping, economy of entire Yellow River basin will be further developed. Cities such as Lanzhou, Yinchuan, Xi'an, Zhengzhou and Jinan will establish large ports for combined river-sea transport.
Of course, in order to realize comprehensive distribution of water from Yellow River, more water transfer channels must be built to distribute water resources pumped from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. For example, construction of a canal between Lanzhou and Guanzhong Plain to supply water to Weihe River and connect Lanzhou to Weihe River will promote shipping and accelerate economic development of Northwest.
With shape of Yellow River, part of river water is transferred to Ordos Plateau, forming a super lake in basin inside plateau, which contributes to accumulation of water. The basin here was originally a desert, but has now turned into a lake, which is very favorable for ecological restoration in north. At same time, pump water from lake to headwaters of Jing and Wuding Rivers to provide water to Loess Plateau.
Construction of water facilities in Tuoketuo, Inner Mongolia. Pipeline transport is used to transport part of river water to headwaters of Feng, Yongding and Zhang rivers to provide water sources for Shanxi Plateau and Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. It is believed that once such a project is implemented, its Beijing water supply will be much larger than in past under south-north water diversion project.
epilogueThrough above three major projects, China's water systems can be basically interconnected to realize integrated use of China's water resources. Chinese history began with Nyuwa water management, and Chinese civilization began with Daiyu water management. Water management has always been one of most important tasks in all Chinese dynasties. China's territory is so vast, and rainfall is so unevenly distributed, that only construction of large-scale water protection facilities can ensure normal development of economy. I believe that when above major projects are completed, China's development in China will reach a new level.
