"Tao can be said to be very Tao", Laozi's familiar "Tao Te Ching" was inspired by our baby talk. The deep cosmic consciousness and natural view of Lao Tzu as founder of Chinese philosophy attracted attention of scientists of subsequent generations.

According to Lao Tzu, everything in world is born and held by each other, full of mysterious unity. As far as nature is concerned, even with today's advanced technology, people cannot fully understand nature, and in ancient times, when news was more hidden, people tended to believe that all things had animism.

Therefore, in order to dispel fear of nature and to continue study of nature, ancients invented many stories about creation. And in this, China and West have reached an amazing unity, and two different cultural sources have same effect in creating a creation myth.

Civilization that emerged from chaos first developed

"Heaven and earth are chaotic like chickens and Pangu was born in them", Chinese creation myth begins with Pangu creating world and Pangu, creator god, using his own body to create living universe and earth. After that, birth of people followed, and history of creation of people of Nuwa accompanied growth of generations.

At moment, outlines of Chinese myth of creation of world are formed, and only after completion of creation of man and his environment can development of man and subsequent storyline be continued.

In West, everything is different: they believe that everything between heaven and earth is ruled by gods, and gods are clearly used by higher ones as tools to control people.

From Western creation myths, we can also see that when faced with great dangers and disasters, they consider best solution to hide in Noah's Ark created by God. God is supreme.

The different attitudes of China and West towards suffering also reflect difference in their value systems. Expect God's blessing and gain supremacy.

The wisdom of ancients has a long history

"The light does not shine, but waters run deep", ancient creation myths subtly accompany growth of generations and allow people to understand meaning of suffering and show an attitude towards suffering.

Browsing through ancient books, we also found many similarities between Chinese and Western classics.

Describing origin of all things in world, Laozi said "Tao, mother of all things", and all things in world are born in a wonderful balance of yin and yang, which is also described in Western classics, believes that Tao and God are equally supreme and are source of all things.

In description of crimes and calamities, we have myth of Gonggun, who crashed into Mount Buzhou in anger, and West is like him. In their myths, as people committed crimes, God sent a flood to cleanse sinful world. People are being punished.

In describing creation of world by God "Seven days come and go and sky moves" our ancient books record it like this. Surprisingly, Western Creator also completed work after seven days of labor, an excellent engineering project.

Many coincidences and similarities make people not only interested in unity of these stories. How could races with two different systems of thought create creation myths with such similar outlines? According to research of later generations of scholars, Chinese creation myths obviously have a deeper origin of that time, and Western myths are inevitably borrowed from Chinese civilization.

But we cannot deny that creation stories of China and West are crystallizations of wisdom of ancients, and they have shown irreplaceable value in development of their respective civilizations. Despite their inevitable similarity to a certain extent, they exhibit two value systems.

Chinese stories embody aesthetic flavor of Eastern philosophy, while Western stories emphasize status of Creator. The connotation of history is not only an extension of meaning of human thought.

These stories, rich in deep philosophy, play an indispensable role in development and affairs of subsequent generations. They have a long history and subtle influence and are undoubtedly a crystallization of wisdom of ancients. And looking at such a great similarity between Chinese and Western stories, we are even more amazed at attitude of our ancients towards fight against suffering!
